The Cyber SITREP blog series got its name from combining my love of all things Cyber, and my background serving in the Canadian Armed Forces. The term ‘SITREP’ means Situation Report, and is one of the most common military phrases you would hear on the battlefield or in the context of the Army.
The purpose of a SITREP is to quickly and effectively deliver pertinent information which support ongoing militaristic operations. Thus, the integration of this concept used for delivering information (mixed with the knowledge of cyber security), the series was born.
Cyber SITREP will be used to deliver content to all those who appreciate reading material relevant to their industry. These blog posts are designed to tackle some of the biggest threats facing the cyber landscape today, and help others build upon their situational awareness within the field.
One of the most important components of staying competent, is remaining educated within your field of work – the Cyber SITREP is the “pointy end of the spear” [another military reference] in aiding in this objective.
I leave you with the following statement:
We must be vigilant, we must be ready, and most of all, we must be educated
